Cloud Telephony
Cloud telephony in India is business phone infrastructure delivered over the internet instead of office PBX hardware or physical phone lines: virtual numbers, cloud calling, call routing, recordings, logs, and voice APIs.
What does Cloud Telephony mean in practice?
Cloud telephony replaces the office PBX box, desk phones and physical SIM lines with hosted infrastructure: a cloud caller number, inbound call routing, outbound dialing, IVR flows, call recordings, call logs, and real-time audio streaming APIs that software can plug into. How it differs from what it replaces is worth being precise about. A SIM in a handset gives one line, one number, and no record of what happened on it. A PBX in a cupboard gives extensions and routing, but it is hardware someone has to own, power and repair, and it stops at the office walls. Cloud telephony keeps the routing and the records and moves them to a provider, so one number can ring a laptop in one city and a phone in another, and every call leaves a log whether or not anyone was free to answer it. For Indian businesses that is useful when you need one business number for sales, support, branch routing or missed-call tracking. It becomes more valuable when an AI voice agent runs on top of it, because the system can answer, qualify leads, book appointments, send WhatsApp follow-ups and update a CRM rather than only forwarding the call to a human. Telecom interconnection with Indian operators such as Airtel, Jio, Vi and BSNL matters because it affects caller ID behaviour, mobile-network call quality, compliance and INR pricing. Licensing sits with the provider rather than the business: an operator holds the authorisation that lets a number terminate on the public network, which is why a software vendor without one resells another operator's line rather than issuing numbers itself. On cost, a real phone number always carries a fixed telecom charge regardless of what runs on top of it. With Dvaarik that is a flat ₹1,500 per 30 days for each concurrent call line — the dedicated number is included, and one line can carry up to three numbers — debited from prepaid credits, while the calls themselves are billed per minute from the same balance. One line means one conversation at a time; a business expecting simultaneous callers buys a second line rather than a second number.
India buying guide
Cloud telephony vs AI voice agent
Buy cloud telephony when your main requirement is a business number, forwarding, call logs, recordings, or basic cloud calling. Buy an AI voice agent when missed calls, slow lead response, appointment booking, payment follow-up, or CRM updates are the real business problem.
Cloud telephony
Phone number, routing, logs, recordings, APIs
AI voice agent
Answers calls, qualifies leads, books, follows up
Cloud caller
The hosted phone identity customers call back
Cloud calling
Outbound or inbound calls managed from software
For Dvaarik customers, the phone layer is priced separately from the AI workflow so businesses can see the number recharge, call minutes, setup, and automation cost before launch.
Real example
A three-branch clinic publishes one cloud number on Google and on its ads. Calls route to whichever branch is open, every call is logged whether answered or not, and the recording sits against the patient record. Nothing physical was installed at any branch — and when a fourth branch opens, it is a routing rule rather than an engineer visit.

Missed Call Alert
A missed call alert notifies a business that an attempted phone call did not connect, usually with the caller's number and time, so someone can follow up. It records the attempt but does not answer the caller or capture why they called.
Concurrent Call Channel
A concurrent call channel is capacity for one live phone call at a time. Two simultaneous calls need two channels even when several phone numbers share the same account.
Outbound AI Calling
Outbound AI calling is when an AI voice agent places phone calls on a business's behalf — typically to call back the business's own leads and enquiries within seconds, qualify them, and book appointments. Done properly, it calls only people who contacted the business first; it is not cold calling.
